The 2014 Studs Terkel Community Media Awards
People who know Chicago like Studs Terkel did, know that the city is more than a cluster of skyscrapers, a history of mobsters, and big pizza. Chicago is an unique city. Its triumphs, failings, and place in the world gives each of its 2.7 million residents their own unique story.
We celebrate the work of journalists that tell Chicago’s stories from its roots – in its communities.
“… News that’s bottom, up, rather than up, down,” as Studs said at our 2007 awards event.
It’s The Workshop’s 25th year celebrating the stories of Chicago and its people, and the people who bring forward the voices of “ordinary” Chicagoans.
