Tracey English
Tracey Robinson-English is owner of English Communications, Inc., a strategic communications consulting practice she launched in 1998 to provide services to companies, educational institutions, nonprofits and individuals. She is currently leading a first-of-its-kind case study initiative at the Levy Institute for Entrepreneurial Practice at the Kellogg School of Management. She previously was a senior consultant for Northwestern University’s Media Management Center, where she served as the interim director for the McCormick Tribune Fellowship Program for minority executives.
During her diverse career, Tracey has worn a number of hats as a journalist, public relations director and entrepreneur. Her distinguished work has appeared in numerous publications,including the Chicago Sun-Times, the Chicago Tribune, Newsweek, Business Week, the Washington Post and Ebony, where she was an associate editor.
She began her journalism career as a staff correspondent for Newsweek, then moved on to become a reporter for The Cleveland Plain Dealer and Chicago Sun-Times. Tracey later made the switch to become an on-air reporter for CBS-TV affiliates in New Orleans and Milwaukee before working in corporate and philanthropic public relations and nonprofit development.
Along the way, Tracey has been an adjunct journalism instructor at the undergraduate and graduate level for the Medill School of Journalism. As a Northwestern alumna, she holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Medill, a master’s degree in management communications from the School of Communications and recently earned certifications in leadership from the Center for Nonprofit Management at Kellogg.
