Alexander Pope
Alex Pope, CFRE, is executive development officer, operations at Advocate Charitable Foundation, the fundraising arm of Advocate Health Care. Advocate Health Care, one of the nation’s top 10 health systems based on clinical performance, is the largest health care provider in Illinois. Advocate operates more than 200 sites of care across metropolitan Chicago, including nine acute care hospitals, two children’s hospitals, four Level I trauma centers (the state’s highest designation in trauma care), a home health care company and one of the region’s largest medical groups. As a nonprofit, mission-based health system affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and the United Church of Christ, Advocate contributed more than $373 million in charitable care and services to communities across Chicagoland in 2008.
Alex is the past vice president, fundraising at National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation, and currently serves as the president of AFP-Chicago. He has been a development officer for nearly 20 years, and been privileged to serve in leadership roles with a number of not-for-profit organizations, including the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation, American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Earthwatch Institute, and the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Additionally, Alex serves as President for the Chicago Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and on the Board of Directors for the Community Media Workshop.
Alex is a graduate of Northern Illinois University. He resides in Naperville, Illinois, with his wife Carla, their son, Nicholas, and two daughters, Madison and Dylan.
