Cassandra West
Cassandra West is a social media consultant and freelance writer and editor. She began her career in corporate communications and moved on to newspapers and journalism, spending 18 years in various editorial positions with The Kansas City Star, St. Louis Sun, Chicago Sun-Times and Chicago Tribune. She’s been a news editor, features editor and editor of the Tribune’s pioneering WomanNews section. Cassandra has taught reporting and writing at Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism. She is a former director of communications for Chicago Foundation for Women. She founded New Media Access in 2007. New Media Access develops web content and advises individuals, nonprofits and small businesses on social media strategy. She is a member of the Association of Women Journalists and the National Association of Black Journalists. Cassandra is a proud alum of Mount Holyoke College.
